Our Journey From Fields to Flavor
In 2018, we uncovered a harsh truth: the harmful chemicals in farming were not only affecting our health but also crippling the livelihoods of farmers. Many of our friends come from farming families, and we watched as their financial struggles grew deeper. Determined to make a change, we decided to take a bold step in 2019—transitioning to natural, chemical-free farming, pouring in all the savings from our jobs.
By early 2020, we celebrated a bumper harvest—the fruits of our labor. But just as we were ready to share our success, COVID struck, and the market collapsed. Tomatoes sold for less than ₹1 per kg. For the first time, we truly understood the struggles that farmers endure.
That was the moment we knew: farm produce needed to be preserved to ensure fair prices and longer shelf life. After extensive research, we came to know about the solar dehydration. By February 2021, with the support of our friends, we built our first prototype in a small village, followed by our first full-scale dehydrator in March, all for just ₹60,000. It had the capacity to dehydrate 800 kg of ginger at once.
The initial feedback was incredible. Exporters and vendors loved our samples, and we were filled with hope. But tragedy struck on May 9, 2021—a powerful storm destroyed our 600-kg dehydrator. Our heart sank. It felt like everything we’d worked for had been swept away.
But from that heartbreak came a new beginning.
After taking some time to reflect and learn, we returned to the mission with renewed energy. With the support of our friends and mother's recipe, we founded Soupam and launched our first product—instant tomato soup.
Our vision remains unwavering: to ensure farmers receive a fair price for their produce and to champion the power of natural farming.
